Zydus Cadila is a fully integrated, global healthcare provider, with strengths all along the pharmaceutical value chain. With a core competence in the field of healthcare, Zydus Cadila provides total healthcare solutions ranging from formulations, active pharmaceutical ingredients and animal healthcare products to cosmeceuticals.
The group’s origin can be traced to 1952 when it was founded by Late Mr. Ramanbhai B. Patel, a first-generation entrepreneur and one of the stalwarts of the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry. In 1995, the group restructured its operations and Cadila Healthcare came into being under the aegis of the Zydus group. Zydus Cadila, today, is spearheaded by Mr. Pankaj R. Patel, the Chairman and Managing Director of the group. From a turnover of Rs 2.5 billion in 1995, the group has crossed the billon dollar mark with a turnover of over Rs. 4600 crores in 2010-11.
The group was declared as the ‘Emerging Company of the Year’ by the Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence 2010. |

It aims to be a leading global healthcare provider with a robust product pipeline and sales of over $3 bn by 2015 and be a research-based pharmaceutical company by 2020. |

Manufacturing
Facilities
Supporting its marketing prowess is the group’s manufacturing facilities. The group has state-of-the-art vertically integrated manufacturing facilities for APIs and formulations, spread across five states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Of these, five facilities are US FDA approved. The formulation plant at Moraiya, Ahmedabad has received approvals from some of the world’s leading regulatory authorities such as the US FDA, MHRA of U.K., AFSSAPS of France, MCC of South Africa, ANVISA of Brazil, BFAD of Philippines, PIC of Romania and MoH of Latvia and Namibia. The API plant at Ankleshwar has received approvals from US FDA and AFSSAPS from France. The group’s API plant at Dabhasa is also US FDA approved. |

Research Centre
The group has a team of more than 1000 research professionals spearheading its research and development programme of which 400 scientists alone are involved in the NME research programme at Zydus Research Centre, the group’s state-of-the-art R&D centre Within a short span of time, the group has made remarkable progress on the New Molecular Entity (NME) research programme and has a portfolio of more than 12 candidates in various stages of development. Zydus Cadila invests nearly 6% of its turnover on research. |
